Dalits- The Untouchables of India

The Dalit community faces oppression and ruthless casteism at the hands of the oppressors who self-identify as ‘upper’ castes.

Dalits

The Dalit community continues to face prejudice and often violence from mainstream Indian society. They are at the lowest point of almost every socio-economic indicator. The government quota for Adivasis at higher education levels remains unfilled. The majority of Dalit and Adivasi children drop out before high school. According to a UNICEF survey
51% of Dalit children drop out of elementary schools as opposed to 37% children from non-Dalit and non-Adivasi communities.

Our work in the Jungles
of Odisha

It all began in 2018 with a trip that led to the discovery of a neglected community of Adivasis located 130 kms from Bhubaneswar in Odisha.

Renewable Energy for
Pre-Schools

It took a few years to finally set up the project that was discovered in 2018. Our team installed five solar panels in five separate preschools – it was the first time children had seen a working ceiling fan in their preschools.
Let us continue this much-needed work in the Dalit communities.
